11 de Febrero Día Internacional de la Mujer y la Niña en la Ciencia: “Mujeres y ciencia en la escuela”

Con motivo del 11 de febrero, desde el ITQ se ha organizado una serie de charlas en distintos centros de educación infantil, primaria, secundaria y de bachillerato, en las que representantes de todos los niveles del mundo de la investigación (predoctorales, postdoctorales, técnicas e investigadoras permanentes del centro) hablarán a las y los estudiantes acerca del papel de la mujer en la ciencia, así como de su propia experiencia personal, con el objetivo de ofrecer modelos con los que puedan identificarse las niñas y jóvenes que deseen seguir una carrera científica.

Esta actividad, que llevamos realizando en el ITQ desde el año 2019, contará en esta edición con la participación de 25 científicas y 20 centros educativos, la mayoría de ellos de la ciudad de Valencia.

Elena Barrio Querol, a master’s student, has obtained the 2021 ERCROS Award – Aragón Hydrogen Foundation

Elena Barrio Querol, student of the Master’s Degree in Sustainable Chemistry, has obtained 2021 ERCROS Award – Aragón Hydrogen Foundation for the best Bachelor Thesis for the best Final Degree Project in the 2nd Announcement of the Aragón Hydrogen Foundation Awards. His work “Design and optimization of electrodes for a co-ionic membrane reactor” has been directed by Laura Almar, ITQ researcher. Congratulations!!

Post-Doctoral Position Available at the Catalysis for Sustainable Organic Reactions / Multifunctional Porous Materials groups 

A post-doctoral research contract is available within the framework of the project entitled Metal-Organic Frameworks as Crystalline Platforms for Multipurpose Catalysis (PROMETEU/2021/054), led by the Functional Inorganic Materials team and to be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Leyva-Pérez at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, UPV-CSIC), sited in The Polytechnic University of València. 

Eligibility criteria: 

• PhD in chemistry. 

• Experience in catalysis and organic chemistry. 

• Experience in synthesis of materials and characterization of solids will be also considered. 

• Oral and written communication skills in English. 

• Strong background of scientific production. 

Duration: From March-May 2022 to December 2024. 

Gross salary: 2879.74 euros per month. 

Working hours: 37 hours / week.

Adquisición de complementos para el fluorometro – Proyecto del ITQ, aprobado por la Conselleria de Innovación

Las actuaciones tienen como finalidad la adquisición de infraestructuras y equipamientos de I+D+i y son cofinanciadas por la Unión Europea a través del Programa Operativo del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) de la Comunitat Valenciana 2014-2020

La subvención de la segunda anualidad obtenida para la “Caracterización de muestras líquidas y sólidas mediante emisión en estado estacionario y tiempo resuelto” (referencia IDIFEDER/2020/025) ha permitido instalar los complementos del fluorometro FLS1000 para:

  • Realizar medidas de rendimientos cuánticos mediante esfera integradora para muestras sólidas/líquidas/films.
  • Medir a distintas temperaturas para muestras líquidas (alcanzado hasta 77K) con un criostato de nitrógeno líquido
  • Adaptar una celda de sólidos con control de temperatura (hasta 600ºC) acoplada ópticamente al equipo actual
  • Realizar medidas de anisotropía con polarizadores para emisión y excitación
  • Adaptar un microscopio invertido con acoplamiento óptico, pletina motorizada y control por software del equipo actual
  • Detectar la emisión en el infrarrojo en estado estacionario y tiempo resuelto
  • Excitar a 808 nm con láser para medidas de up-conversión en estado estacionario y resueltas en tiempo
  • Adaptar una cámara CCD (rango de detección ca. 300 a 1000 nm)

Yo soy CSIC para que los doctorandos de la institución a la que pertenecen expliquen, a través de vídeos breves dirigidos a un público no especializado, su tema de trabajo de investigación y los resultados de su tesis doctoral utilizando un lenguaje accesible. Researcher position available at the Energy conversion and storage group in “Electrochemical membrane reactors (ECMR)”

The Energy conversion and storage group (Group leader: José M. Serra Alfaro) is seeking for a Postdoctoral researcher to work in the area of Catalytic membrane reactors to strength the electrochemical testing capability and the performance and long-term stability attributes of the next generation of renewable fuels, chemicals and CO2 valorisation systems.

ITQ Researches are part of the PHOTORED Project: “Photocatalytic CO2 reductions by greenhydrogen”

Finding new ways to use CO2 and turn it into valuable products is of vital importance to overcome the challenges our society faces. This is exactly what the project “Photocatalytic CO2 reductions by green hydrogen” PHOTORED, coordinated by ICIQ, aims to do. “We’re very happy to participate in this project, as it is aligned with the institute’s strategic goals: sustainability and renewable energy,” explains Emilio Palomares, ICIQ director, group leader and member of the PHOTORED project.

The four partners of the PHOTORED consortium have met virtually on December 22nd to kick-start the project, which will last three years. The consortium brings together four partners of complementary expertise: the Institute of Chemical Technology (ITQ, UPV-CSIC) and ICIQ will work on materials preparation as well as bring their expertise in photocatalysis; the Industrial-Technological Centre from Castilla La Mancha (ITECAM) will focus on the production of green H2; the large company DAM will bring their expertise in urban wastewater treatment and biogas facilities exploitation.

Investigadores del ITQ han desarrollado un proceso catalítico en continuo para la isomerización de glucosa en fructosa y ha sido publicado en la revista ChemCatChem

Investigadores del ITQ han desarrollado un proceso catalítico en continuo para la isomerización de glucosa en fructosa trabajando en fase acuosa y condiciones suaves de reacción y usando un catalizador heterogéneo basado en óxido mixto de Ca y Al derivado de hidrotalcita. En el artículo recientemente publicado en la revista ChemCatChem (M. Ventura et al.) se presenta uno de los primeros ejemplos de un proceso no enzimático para llevar a cabo esta reacción con éxito. Los resultados obtenidos por el grupo de investigación del ITQ liderado por M. E. Domine permiten obtener, tras la adecuada optimización de los parámetros del proceso, excelentes rendimientos a fructosa trabajando a elevada conversión de glucosa con el catalizador Ca-Al-O, que además demuestra una razonable estabilidad durante el proceso.
