Avelino Corma, researcher at the ITQ (UPV-CSIC), first Spanish scientist to receive the EuChemS 2024 Gold Medal

Avelino Corma, a researcher at the Instituto de Tecnología Química (UPV-CSIC), has been awarded the EuChemS Gold Medal  2024 from the European Chemical Society. With this recognition, Professor Corma is the first Spanish scientist to receive this international recognition.

To date, this distinction has only been awarded to three distinguished scientists: the Dutch Bernard L. Feringa in 2018, who was also awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2016; the Italian Michele Parrinello in 2020, winner of the Dreyfus Prize in 2017 and the Benjamin Franklin Medal in 2020; and the British Dame Carol Robinson in 2022, who stood out as former president of the Royal Society of Chemistry and was the first female professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge and Oxford.
