Hermenegildo García, was conferred with the Honoris Causa by the University of Bucarest
Bucarest, 27 September 2011.- The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) Professor and researcher of the ITQ, a joint centre of the Spanish National Research Council and the UPV was conferred with the Honoris Causa by the University of Bucarest.
He was recognized by his research work and his contribution in the field of Organic Chemistry. He was supported by Prof. Vasile Parvulescu a member of this Rumanian institution.
Apart from this academic award, Professor García has been recently awarded with the RSEQ-Janssen Cilgag de Química Orgánica by the Real Sociedad Española de Química for his research contribution in this field. Hermenegildo García is the head of a multidisciplinary research group with more than 15 researchers.
His competitive projects are focused in Organic Photochemistry inside Zeolites and the use of Zeolites as heterogeneous catalysts in organic reactions; design of photo- and electro-active systems encapsulated inside Zeolites; photochemistry application to solve environmental issues and study of solar cells. He has written more than 450 articles. The impact index of his work is around 55 points.
Prof. Hermenegildo is now number 287 of the most cited chemists in the world for the last 10 years. All of this gives to him and his team high competitive level in technological development sector and innovation in Organic Chemistry. He works teaching and making his research at the Chemistry Department of the Universitat Politècnica de València and in the Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIC-UPV).
