CONFERENCE: Design and Redesign of Sustainable Engineering Nanomaterials by Prof. Christy L. Haynes
| Venue: Salón de Actos del ITQ
Date: Thursday June 6, 12.00h |
| Abstract: Even Richard Feynman would be impressed with how engineered nanoparticles are increasingly being incorporated into devices and products across a variety of commercial sectors. However, this means that engineered nanoscale materials will either intentionally or unintentionally be released into the ecosystem. The long-term goal of the presented work is to understand the molecular design rules that control nanoparticle toxicity using aspects of materials science (nanoparticle design, fabrication, and modification), analytical chemistry (developing new assays to monitor nanotoxicity), and ecology (monitoring how nanoparticles enter and accumulate in the food web through bacteria and how these nanoparticles influence bacterial function). Taken together, these data suggest that careful consideration of engineered nanoparticle surface chemistry will allow design of safe and sustainable nanoscale materials. |

3rd Workshop about Sustainable Chemistry under the slogan: “Nuestra huella verde”
Aula-empresa Cemex Sostenibilidad in collaboration with Instituto Universitario Mixto de Tecnología Química (CSIC-UPV) organize the 3rd Workshop about Sustainable Chemistry under the slogan: “Nuestra huella verde”.
The event will be held on 5th of April, 2019 in Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación (CPI) at the Universitat Politècnica de València.
This Workshop is aimed to Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD’s students and also to professionals from the chemical sector. The schedule includes several speeches from relevant researchers and professionals at Chemistry and Chemical Engineering related to Sustainable Chemistry.
Nowadays, the use of Sustainable Chemistry is the only way to reach the main sustainable developments goals of the 2030 agenda (UN). Due to the importance of this area of Chemistry, the Universitat Politècnica de València joint to others universities (UVEG, UJI, UEX) offer a Master’s degree and a PhD program related to Sustainable Chemistry. In that sense, and open to the entire scientific, business and academic communities this dissemination and divulgation Workshop is organized.
DATE: 5th of April, 2019
