BENERGY This Project is aimed at developing a portable fuel cell operated with methanol. The contribution of the ITQ is to provide a theoretical framework of the decomposition of methanol  into hydrogen on the catalyst surface and in situ detection of the reaction intermediates. The combination of the theory and experimentation should lead to a more efficient generation of affordable catalyst capable to decompose methanol at lower temperatures with low CO generation at high conversions. The consortium is led by the University of Porto and includes partners modeling the power of the fuel cell as a function of catalyst activity and an industrial partner in the fuel cell business.
