Dr. Beri N. Mbenkum

I am a physicist by training and over the years, I developed skills in the chemical synthesis of a broad range of nanomaterials with defined architecture. This way, I acquired the fine skills of tuning material property in a controlled and reproducible manner to exploit phenomena which typically are not expected to occur. I did so for catalytic nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles and low dimensional semiconductor materials like silicon nanotubes and various semiconductore nanowires (just to name a few). My scientific interests extend beyond the physical sciences into the biological domain, as I also have a particular concern regarding the toxicological aspects of nanomaterials to be implemented in future nanotechnology-based devices.

With my expertise, I strive to provide solutions to enhance device performance while keeping a lid on process costs. Fields of interest include (but are not restricted to) renewable energy (photovoltaic systems), lighting systems (photonics), catalysts (for exhaust systems) and surface coatings for antibacterial and corrosion resistant surfaces.

I am open to new ideas and flexible in my work approach. Travelling is one of my passions and I am readily mobile to provide technological solutions where needed. My fluent communication skills are currently in english, german and french and I possess basic skills in a few other languages. I am fascinated by several cultures worldwide and therefore, adopting additional language skills, is highly ranked among my list of hobbies.
