Oferta de empleo – Predoctoral Position in Neuromorphic Devices and Networks
The PROFUND group, led by Juan Bisquert at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Universitat Politècnica de València – Spanish National Research Council (UPV-CSIC) in Valencia, is offering a full-time predoctoral position to support research activities within the scope of the project «Perovskite Spiking Neurons for Intelligent Networks, PeroSpiker.» This project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under the Horizon Europe Advanced Grant, grant agreement number 101097688 («PeroSpiker»).
The PeroSpiker project aims to develop devices based on perovskites that emulate the behavior of neurons and synapses, resulting in smaller, simpler, and more energy-efficient neural networks, using hybrid materials transistors, memristors and networks.
Job Description
We are seeking a predoctoral researcher to investigate the response of hybrid neuromorphic devices, such as memristors and transistors, in both frequency and time domains. This research aims to contribute to advancements in neuromorphic computing by exploring the underlying physics and enhancing the performance of these devices.
Main tasks
– Developing the fundamental physics of hybrid neuromorphic devices and neural networks.
– Employing advanced optoelectronic techniques, such as impedance spectroscopy and transient time response analysis, to characterize these devices.
– Modeling and simulating the electrical behaviors of the devices to predict performance and inform design improvements.
– Perform any other tasks that may arise during the research project.
Requirements
– University bachelor’s and master’s degrees: degree in Chemistry or degree in Chemical Engineering or degree in Physics or similar and master’s degree in Science or master’s degree in Sustainable Chemistry or master’s degree in Materials Sciences or similar or equivalent.
– Pre-admission to the PhD program in Sustainable Chemistry at UPV.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent written and oral proficiency in English.
– Proactive attitude and ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team.
– Experience with opto/electrical measurements, LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, and semiconductor simulation software would be advantageous.
– Background in differential equations, numerical methods, and device modeling.
– Knowledge of neuromorphic systems, neural networks, or semiconductor device physics is desirable.
We offer
– Duration: 1-year full-time contract, with potential extension until September 2028 based on performance. 4 Years of doctorate.
– Monthly gross remuneration (14 payments per year): 1.799€/month €.
– Opportunity to work in an inspiring and dynamic research environment.
– Expected start date of October 1st, 2024.
