Oferta de empleo – Postdoctoral Position in Neuromorphic Devices and Networks
The PROFUND group, led by Juan Bisquert at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Universitat Politècnica de València – Spanish National Research Council (UPV-CSIC) in Valencia, is offering a full-time postdoctoral position to support research activities within the scope of the project «Perovskite Spiking Neurons for Intelligent Networks, PeroSpiker.» This project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under the Horizon Europe Advanced Grant, grant agreement number 101097688 («PeroSpiker»).
The PeroSpiker project aims to develop devices based on perovskites that emulate the behavior of neurons and synapses, resulting in smaller, simpler, and more energy-efficient neural networks, using hybrid materials transistors, memristors and networks.
Job Description
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on the development of neuromorphic networks and systems. A physics or engineering -oriented postdoctoral researcher will participate in specific scientific tasks, as well as laboratory management, collaborative work, and communication and outreach activities.
Main tasks
– Design opto/electrical measurement setups and program measurements using LabVIEW and Python. Perform electrical and optoelectronic measurements in time and frequency domains, focusing on neural networks and neuromorphic systems.
– Develop physical models using differential equations and numerical resolution of problems in space and time, employing equivalent circuits and integration methods in the time domain. Conduct simulations of measurements using Matlab and specific semiconductor and transistor simulation software.
– Interpret measurements and create device models incorporating transport phenomena, transistors, electrical engineering, electronics, photovoltaics, and electrochemistry.
– Contribute to the development of neuromorphic applications such as memristors and transistors.
– Participate in the evaluation of neural networks developed within the project.
– Directly supervise at least one doctoral student and provide guidance to other group members in their activities.
– Perform any other tasks that may arise during the research project.
Requirements
– PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or Engineering validated in European Institution.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent written and oral proficiency in English.
– Proactive attitude and ability to work independently within an interdisciplinary team.
– Experience with opto/electrical measurements, LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, and semiconductor simulation software would be advantageous.
– Background in differential equations, numerical methods, and device modeling.
– Knowledge of neuromorphic systems, neural networks, or semiconductor device physics is desirable.
We offer
– Duration: 1-year full-time contract, with potential extension until September 2028 based on performance.
– Monthly gross remuneration: 3000 €.
– Opportunity to work in an inspiring and dynamic research environment.
– Expected start date of September 16, 2024.
