His scientific background includes physical chemistry, catalysis, computational chemistry (molecular dynamics, atomistic forcefields, and density functional theory), programming languajes, operating systems, and parallel computing.

Most of his papers deal with zeolites and metal-organic frameworks, but also he is interested in soft-matter (proteins), ligand-receptor interactions, and chiral molecules.

He is member of the Structure Commission of the International Zeolite Association, Associate Editor of Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, and serves in a large number of scientfic panels of project evaluation across the world.
